The royal reception rooms plunge you into the history and splendor of the monarchy. While the ground-floor rooms (for royal audiences) are closed to the public, the grand staircase gives access to several sumptuous rooms that can be visited. The Alexander the Great room owes its name to the 35-metre-long frieze sculpted by Thorvaldsen. The Tower Room, the Throne Room and the impressive Grande Salle with its tapestry decor are also well worth a visit.
