No one can ignore it, the Little Mermaid is the symbol of Copenhagen, immortalized forever by Andersen's famous tale.

Surrounded by tourists and boats, the Little Mermaid is undoubtedly the symbol of Copenhagen. Admittedly, she's not very big, but she exudes a melancholy charm. She was sculpted by Edvard Eriksen in 1913 for Carl Jacobsen to immortalize the features of his mistress Ellen Price, prima ballerina at the Royal Theatre. He had fallen in love with her during a ballet illustrating Andersen's fairy tale. The statue was donated to the city and installed at the entrance to the port.

Indeed, it is one of the icons city... but to see it a large detour requires from the centre of Copenhagen and it has much less charm than in our imagination. In order to see it without wasting time too, it is best to go with the tourist boats that make guided city tours. You can even go down to see it closer and go up in the boat.

Although it is exciting to finally see the little mermaid about you so intended to talk, and it is worth a visit, but the place is really without other attractions. The view is not beautiful and my part the statue is much smaller than I had been able to imagine. The place also was polluted therefore terminal I was disappointed. But always given pleasure of being taken in photo near the little mermaid!
