HIRSCHSPRUNG COLLECTION (HIRSCHSPRUNGSKE SAMLING)
Discover the collection of paintings amassed by a prosperous Jewish industrialist, the patron Heinrich Hirschsprung.
This important private collection of nineteenth-century Danish paintings, the majority of which were painted during the famous Golden Age, was amassed by a prosperous Jewish industrialist (tobacco manufacturer), the patron Heinrich Hirschsprung. Presented to the public since 1902, the old-fashioned hanging has remained unchanged, the walls are covered with a profusion of paintings from floor to ceiling. Among the famous paintings in Denmark is the Summer Evening at Skagen Beach painted by Krøyer in 1849.
