HALMTORVET
A broad, popular esplanade lined with cafés, galleries and a theater, the Huset, located on the outskirts of the station.
Located on the outskirts of the railway station and facing the meat district, Halmtorvet is a wide, shady esplanade named after the hay and fodder market that once took place here. Completely redeveloped in recent years, the once-popular and perhaps ill-famed area is now lined with cafés, galleries and a theater, the Huset. Right next door, Øksnehallen, a livestock market active from 1879 to 1959, is a hybrid creative and fashion venue, hosting the "Vision" event during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
