CECILE FAKHOURY GALLERY
This gallery is a place of discovery, exchange and encounter, bringing greater visibility to African artists.
The Cécile Fakhoury gallery offers an exhibition space of 600 m². Raw concrete, clear lines, natural light: in this gray cube with a bare aesthetic, art expresses itself with an open heart. The program, defined for the year, includes individual and group exhibitions spread out over a period of two months. For its inaugural exhibition on September 14, 2012, the gallery struck hard and welcomed on its walls the fruit of the collaboration between a sacred monster and a young talent of the Ivorian plastic arts scene that more than six decades separate: Frédéric Bruly-Bouabré (who died in January 2014), today more highly rated than an Ousmane Sow, and Aboudia, the "Ivorian Basquiat", very popular with lovers of contemporary African art. The gallery, which aims to be a dynamic local structure and a place of discovery, exchange and meetings, intends to work to promote contemporary art on the African continent, but also to bring more visibility to African artists in general and Ivorian in particular, and especially to position itself on an international niche in order to register the artists represented in a globality and an exchange with the "outside", in the form of art without borders. This commitment is reflected in particular through its participation in international fairs and biennials and its collaborations with foreign galleries. In 2018, she opened a space in Dakar and a showroom in Paris.
