Trains from Jakarta (Kota station then Gambir station): the Gajayana leaves at 5.15/5.30 a.m. for a journey of around 15 hours. From Jatinegara station, departure with the Matarmaja at 2:12 p.m. for an 18-hour journey. From Surabaya, about eight departures a day, including two express trains, for a journey time of 2 to 3 hours. You can also travel to Banyuwangi (ferry to Bali), with a train at 3:50 p.m. every day. Please note that most travel agencies offer transport to and from Surabaya by van, with onward service to Malang.
