NOTRE DAME CHURCH
Orbec church, a listed monument with an imposing 15th-century tower
Originally built in the 13th century, Notre-Dame d'Orbec was plundered and partly destroyed during the Hundred Years' War. Its originality lies in its tall, imposing 43-metre tower, built in the 15th century and enhanced by a bell tower in the 16th century. After Charles V dismantled the town's castle in 1378, it was used as a watchtower. Inside, the nave and chapel date from the Renaissance, while the stained glass windows were added between the 15th and 16th centuries. The church has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1996.
