SAINT-SAMSON CHURCH
This church is undoubtedly the most beautiful and one of the largest rural churches in France.
Arguably the most beautiful and one of the largest rural churches in France, it bears witness to the importance of the village at the height of the ducal state. Built in the 12th century on the site of a primitive wooden church destroyed during the Viking invasions, its architecture is similar to the abbeys founded by William the Conqueror in Caen. The 12th-century Romanesque nave can be admired, as can the imposing bell tower, which was also used as a lighthouse with the installation of a large lantern in 1828, before the first lighthouse was built in 1886.
