Visit of the Ouistreham Locks, 225 metres long and 28 metres wide, allowing the passage of ships of 30,000 tons.
It is here in the port of Ouistreham that the Caen Canal ends in the sea (which celebrated its 160 years in 2017). In order to facilitate navigation, locks had to be built. The first was built at the end of the eighteenth century, the second in 1903, and the last in 1963. 225 meters long and 28 meters wide, it allows for the passage of 30,000 tons. In 2013, the lateral walls of the west lock, known as baits, were subjected to major works. Thus consolidated, the work essential for port activity allows an increase in the attractiveness of the port of Caen-Ouistreham and gives a little more amplitude to the boaters to pass the airlock (at least one hour and thirty minutes according to tides). During opening hours, the show and animation are friendly.
