CONCATTEDRALE SAN SIRO
The oldest church of San Remo in baroque style preserving the interesting Black Crucifix.
Sanremo's oldest church (12thcentury ) and one of the earliest examples of Romanesque art on the Ponente Riviera. Built on surviving early Christian remains, the building was remodeled in Baroque style in the 17thcentury . It was only in the 19thcentury that it was restored to its original appearance. The exterior is rather classical, but the interior is well worth a visit. The church boasts an interesting15th-century black Crucifix, to which San Remo's victory over the Saracens in 1543 is attributed. It is dedicated to Saint Syr of Genoa.
