Alassio's most luxurious hotel deserves to be mentioned for its gardens alone, since plants, flowers and foliage are such an integral part of the decor here. The beautiful pseudo-colonial/early 20th-century villa belonged to wealthy English owners who naturally surrounded it with an English-style garden running down the hill on several levels, with the sea on the horizon. The comfortable rooms also have a touch of the British about them. The good news is that the gardens are open to visitors from March to November, by reservation only (see website).
