Writer and politician Carlo Levi began painting as a child: his first participation in a group exhibition dates back to 1923. His painting focuses on landscapes and portraits. Throughout his life, he was a committed intellectual, in the sense that his friend Jean-Paul Sartre gave to the word. The Pinacoteca has a permanent exhibition of 22 works signed by the artist in the rooms of the Palazzo Morteo in the heart of the old town: all these paintings, with the exception of the self-portrait, were painted in Alassio.
