In Genoa, big celebrations to celebrate the patron saint of the city, with bonfires in all the districts of the city.
June 24 is the feast of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of Genoa. Marking the beginning of summer, the celebrations are grandiose. It all starts during the night of the 23rd, with a vigil around the bonfires that each district tries to make as high as possible before meeting again. Then on the 24th, a religious procession takes place from the cathedral to the Porto Antico for the blessing of the sea and the city by the cardinal-archbishop.
