Every two years (on even years), this Passion Procession on Good Friday takes fifteen remarkable ancient wooden sculptures depicting the episodes of the passion and resurrection of Christ through the city of Genoa. This event dates back to the Middle Ages, when various penitents chose to "live" the ordeals that Christ endured before his death. Sounds of percussion and drums punctuate the route.
