CHIESA DI SAN DONATO
Church located in Genoa preserving a beautiful tower of octagonal plan.
Lost in the maze of caruggi in the historical center, here is one of the most important testimonies of Romanesque art in Genoa (11th century church, enlarged in the 12th century). Restored in the nineteenth century (the rose window and the portico on the façade date from this period), the church still has a beautiful octagonal tower, which served as inspiration in the 1980s for the Matitone skyscraper on the west side of the industrial port. Inside, in the chapel of St. Joseph, you can admire the precious triptych of the Adoration of the Magi by Joos Van Cleeve (1515).
