DIOCESAN MUSEUM
Museum in the underground of the Archbishopric hosting many testimonies of sacred art in Genoa.
The museum, housed in the underground passageways of the Archbishop's Palace, is home to many rich examples of sacred art. Among the must-see pieces is the Sacro Catino, an emerald-colored glass bowl of oriental workmanship, which popular legend has long equated with the Grail. In reality, it is a work of Islamic goldsmithery dating from the 9th century. Also worth seeing is the 16th-century blue dye cycle, depicting scenes from the life of Christ. The thick, indigo-blue fabric is said to be the ancestor of blue jeans!
