BASILICA DI NOSTRA SIGNORA DELLA ROSA
Don't miss this large and beautiful baroque basilica if you go for a tour of the downtown streets
A large, beautiful Baroque basilica (17th century), not to be missed if you're visiting the city center. It takes its name from an image of the Virgin and Child inside, holding a rose in her hand, but also from the fact that when the church was being built, a pool of rose petals was found underneath, the water from which was said to have healing properties. Inside, there's an abundance of gilding, illuminated chandeliers and gleaming stucco.
