CASTELLO SAN GIORGIO
The castle now houses the Archaeological Museum with interesting remains.
It dominates the medieval town. Built in the 12thcentury , at the same time as the ramparts, the castle was rebuilt in 1327. The building retains its original structure, with imposing17th-century bastions. Today, it houses the Archaeological Museum, with its interesting finds from excavated necropolises in the region. The museum's highlights are the 19 anthropomorphic stelae from the Bronze and Iron Ages, carved by the inhabitants of Lunigiana, inland from La Spezia. Beautiful views from the castle terrace.
