PLAGES DE CORNIGLIA ET DE GUVANO
Corniglia Marina. A steep, narrow staircase leads down from the little square of Largo Taragio, through narrow lanes and houses built sheer out to sea, to this tiny port squeezed between the rocks. Take a seat on the wide, flat rocks below the cliffs. If you don't find them really comfortable, you'll enjoy the crystal-clear turquoise water.
Guvano Beach. This is one of the most magnificent beaches in the Cinque Terre, historically a paradise for naturists who made it their stronghold in the 1970s, and boasting wonderfully beautiful translucent water. Please note, however, that to date, it can only be reached by sea, which complicates matters considerably... Unfortunately, the long pedestrian gallery leading from the railway station to this half-moon-shaped bay of sand and pebbles remains closed, as it has been undergoing renovation since landslides made it unsafe. Everyone is eagerly awaiting its reopening...
Spiaggione. To the east of the Corniglia railway station, close to the path that connects to Manarola, this beach with its large white stones was created in the 1950s using materials salvaged from the railroad works. Over the years, the erosive action of the sea has reduced the beach to a thin tongue of pebbles, but it is still very popular in high season.
