MARIQUET'S CASTLE
Castle built on three floors in brick and stone, a high place of the Battle of Normandy, houses a beautiful house in the park
There are few castles on the Ranville territory, such as the Château du Mariquet. Built on three floors in brick and stone, between the 18th and 19th centuries during the Directorate period, it was owned by the Rohan-Chabot family until 2009. Louis de Rohan-Chabot and his son Gaël were both mayors of Ranville. The castle was a major site of the Battle of Normandy, since it was made available to the Allied troops by Countess Jeanne de Rohan-Chabot on the morning of 6 June 1944, who set up their headquarters of the 5th Brigade there. In the same park, there is a beautiful 18th-century house overlooking the rue du Général Leclerc.
