Located at the point east of Dorsoduro, the Sea Customs was founded in the th century and rebuilt at the end of the th century. Its function was the inspection of vessels that migrated to the St. Mark basin. Its summit has two bronze atlases, which carry a huge golden sphere with a vane, a symbol of Fortune, which turns on the winds.

If the visitors who hurry at the entrance to the museum of contemporary art are to admire Mr Pinault's collections, the point of the Customs is particularly suitable for walks at the sunset; a relatively quiet area, one of the most beautiful views of the lagoon. And as Henri de Régnier wrote: " At the hot wind of the lagoon, which directs it to its will, I saw your fortune, O Dogana di Mare! '.

2nd museum of contemporary art Venice belonging to the foundation François Pinault, this site exceptional open to the public on June 29th, 2009. Located on Grand Canal, at the tip of douaniers (hence its name), almost opposite the Saint Marc square, this building triangular has been beautifully designed by the architect who has Tadao Ando maintaining the old structure of the building, add a contemporary touch here while playing the effects of volume and light.

Jeff Koons, Charles Ray, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman... there is no doubt that art lovers contemporary and other curious will appreciate this exceptional collection.

If you want to visit Palazzo Grassi, adjoining tickets of the 2 foundations grant discounted rates. Discounts are also applicable to holders of menu FNAC, employees of the group P.R... more information on www.palazzograssi.it
