This restaurant has been run since 1971 by a very nice man from Puglia (which is why he is called il nonno pugliese). Despite the owner's origins, the atmosphere is very Venetian. In summer, the restaurant and bar are frequented by students and their teachers who enjoy the small terrace. The restaurant continues to offer traditional Venetian dishes in an authenticosteria atmosphere: bigoli in sauce, veal liver Venetian style, sardines " in saor ", cuttlefish with polenta, etc.

Came here for dinner at around 8:30pm on a weekday, it was situated on a quiet street and the restaurant was not too crowded either. We ordered 2 pastas and one main and the portions were huge. Lasagna did not look that appetising but the taste was great, we were definitely not disappointed by the food. Everything tasted very homely. Staff were really friendly too. The complimentary limoncello at the end of the meal was a nice touch.
Total bill came up to be about 90€ which was not that cheap but because it’s Venice and the portions of the dishes were huge I guess it’s acceptable.

Finalmente un’osteria dove si mangia bene!! Locale a conduzione familiare, cucina veneziana, fresca, genuina, tradizionale. Ambiente accogliente, il responsabile in sala, ci ha illustrato i piatti da noi scelti, (i bigoli, le sarde in saor,i il baccalà mantecato, ) spiegandoci come venivano eseguiti. Veramente felice di esserci capitati per puro caso. Il costo è nella media. Sicuramente la prossima volta che torneremo in visita a Venezia…prenoteremo.
Ahhhh i dolci sono fatti in casa .. quindi obbligo un assaggio.
