To celebrate the end of the plague in 1630, a procession broke out on a boat bridge between the Salute and Giudecca rivers.
To celebrate the end of the plague of 1630-1631, every November 21 an ephemeral floating bridge connects the tip of the Salute to Campo Santa Maria del Giglio (at the stop of the vaporetto Giglio). An event that is perhaps a little less scenic than the others, but which evokes a sincere feeling of popular devotion, still very prevalent. The Venetians, in fact, parade in front of the altar of the church to perpetuate the bond of gratitude that links Venice to the Virgin Mary.
