The Venice Tennis Club was established on the Lido in the early 1920s. It recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, a century of amateur matches, decades of tennis schools and, above all, the 30th anniversary of the Taghe Volpi, its showcase tournament, an event of national and even international renown that sees top players compete against each other every year. If you're a clay-court enthusiast in Venice for an extended stay, you won't be able to resist hitting the little yellow ball on one of the courts for long.
