Institute founded by rich old ladies, decorated with paintings and sculptures.
Santa Maria della Presentazione is also called the Chiesa delle Zitelle, after an institute founded by rich Venetian spinster girls(zitelle in Italian) who decided, around 1500, to take care of young women who were victims of prostitution. The church was built from a project attributed to Andrea Palladio between 1581 and 1588. The interior is decorated with paintings by Alma il Giovane and Ricci, and sculptures by Sansovino and Morlaiter.
