CHIESA DI SAN ROCCO
A beautiful church with beautiful paintings by Tintoretto and the relics of Saint Roch, a place of pilgrimage in Venice.
Originally built on a project by Bartolomeo Bon in 1489, this beautiful church underwent several transformations. In 1485, the brotherhood managed to recover the relics of St. Roch and bring them back to Venice. The church then became a place of annual pilgrimage of the Doge every August 16. With its Corinthian columns, the marble facade is superb. Inside, one can observe the beautiful painting by Tintoretto, Saint Roch healing the victims of the plague (1549), adorning, with 3 other paintings by the same artist, the choir where the relics of the saint are housed.
