A beautiful church with remarkable statues and frescoes in the Santa Marta district of Venice.
This magnificent church, founded in the 12th century, is located in the working-class district of Santa Marta, on the western edge of Dorsoduro. Local residents financed the richly decorated interior, dedicated to Saint Nicholas of the Beggars. Gilded wooden statues and frescoes by Veronese pupils can be admired. On the high altar, the three golden balls symbolize the three young girls saved from prostitution by Saint Nicholas.
