This beautiful church, which dates back to the th century, is located in the popular neighbourhood of Santa Marta, on the extreme west of Dorsoduro. It was precisely the inhabitants of the neighbourhood who were financèrent by their gifts the rich decoration of the interior devoted to Saint-Nicolas des Beggars. Very damaged during the floods of 1966 (its soil is below the level of the canal), the church was restored thanks to the intervention of the Venezia in pericolo association. You can also admire its golden wooden statues and frescoes by students from Véronèse. On the master altar, the three gold balls symbolize three écartées girls from prostitution by St. Nicholas.
