CHIESA DI SAN TROVASO
Church with remarkable facades and late paintings in Venice.
This church has two identical façades, one overlooking Campo San Trovaso and the other overlooking the river of the same name. A rarity to be attributed to the fact that two opposing families, the Nicoletti and the Castellani, used to meet here for the services, each using its own entrance without the risk of crossing each other. The original 11th-century building was rebuilt around 1570 and is dedicated to Saints Gervasio and Protasio (hence the contracted name "Trovaso") and preserves late paintings by Jacopo and Domenico Tintoretto and by Palma il Giovane.
