CHIESA DI SAN GIOVANNI IN BRAGORA
A remarkable church in Venice, a beautiful testimony of the passage from Gothic to Renaissance.
A fine example of the transition from the Gothic to the Renaissance, this church with its sober facade and curvilinear cut-out dates from the end of the 15th century. Its masterpiece is the magnificent St. John baptizing the Christ of Cima of Conegliano that adorns the apse chapel. Admire also the risen Christ of Vivarini, near the door of the sacristy. In the left nave a copy of Antonio Vivaldi's baptismal certificate recalls that the author of the Four Seasons was baptised here in 1678.
