CHIESA SAN GIORGIO DEI GRECI
Church with a leaning bell tower at the entrance offering an important collection of icons.
Built with donations from the Greek Orthodox of Venice and visiting Hellenic sailors, this beautiful church was built in 1564 in the Renaissance style. Before entering, admire the mosaic of Christ the Savior and then look up at its leaning bell tower. An important collection of icons is kept inside, including a particularly rare one, dated from the 14th century and quoted by Goethe and Malraux. Around the place of worship used to be the city's Greek quarter.
