CHIESA DI SAN PANTALEONE
Church with remarkable paintings by Gian Antonio in Venice.
The first foundation of the church dates back to the 11th century. It was rebuilt in the seventeenth century, but never finished, which is why the brick of its façade is still visible. Enter this church where the artist Gian Antonio Fumiani spent almost a quarter of a century (from 1680 to 1704, and he rests there today) to complete the forty paintings that make up The Martyrdom of San Pantalon. A painted ceiling of 443 m², probably a record. You will notice that the paintings run down the walls, creating a striking trompe-l'oeil perspective effect.
