CHIESA DI SAN SEBASTIANO
Church with remarkable paintings by Veronese in Venice.
Built by Antonio Abbondi in the 16th century, the church was decorated by Veronese who worked here for most of his life. The painter would have found asylum here while being prosecuted for a crime. He was rescued and put all his energy into the decoration; his tomb is in the church. The paintings(The Coronation of the Virgin, TheCoronation of Esther, The Virgin, St. Catherine and a Monk, St. Mark and St. Marcellin being led to martyrdom) are all the better for the simplicity of the church's interior.
