CHIESA DI SAN MARCUOLA
A church, with remarkable altars, bordering the Grand Canal in Venice.
Consecrated to the saints Ermagora and Fortunato, this church located on the Grand Canal dates back to the year 1000. However, its current appearance dates back to the 18th century. The facade, the work of Giorgio Massari, was never actually completed. The rough bricks are thus visible and one can see the outgrowths that were intended to support a "future" marble façade. In the single nave interior you can see the Last Supper by Tintoretto, as well as eight marble altars carved by Gianmaria Morlaiter, the author of the high altar of the Salute.
