BIBLIOTECA MARCIANA
Library with a beautiful collection of manuscripts in front of the Doge's Palace, one of the most valuable in Italy.
Opposite the Doge's Palace is one of Italy's most valuable libraries, famous for its priceless manuscripts. Built by Sansovino between 1537 and 1560, it is adorned with masterpieces by Titian(The Wisdom), Tintoretto and Veronese. Only the vestibule and the Grand Salon are open to the public. Among the works preserved here, the Grimani Breviary, rich in Flemish miniatures, and Fra Mauro's Mappemonde, dating from 1450 and offering a fascinating representation of the world in the 15th century, are among the most admired gems.
