CASA GOLDONI
The house where Goldoni, the great playwright and creator of the opera buffa in Venice, was born in flamboyant Gothic style
The birthplace of Goldoni (1707-1793) is housed in a 15th-century palazzo designed in the flamboyant Gothic style. The creator of theopera buffa (comic opera), but also the father of numerous social satires, lived his first twelve years in this sumptuous setting. Today, his home houses a museum dedicated to his work. It's an enveloping, timeless place, a universe that brilliantly showcases one of Venice's great artistic personalities. The Casa also houses a center for theatrical studies.
