The main shopping street of the city of Venice.

Beyond the arch of the Clock Tower, you enter Venice's ancient mercantile district, located between San Marco and Rialto. This area is divided into four Mercerie: Merceria dell'Orologio, di San Zulian, del Capitello and di San Salvatore. It is the city's main shopping thoroughfare, a lively labyrinth of callettes lined with a variety of stores. Unfortunately, many of them are touristy and a little expensive, whereas in the past this area was renowned for its precious fabrics and exotic spices.
