PONTE DELL'ACCADEMIA
Wooden bridge on the Grand Canal dating from 1930, with a sloping arch offering a magnificent view of the Church of the Salute.
The only wooden bridge on the Grand Canal, built in 1930! Tackle its slightly strenuous crossing, due to its sloping arch. This bridge was supposed to be temporary when it replaced the previous iron one built by the Austrians, which was starting to get in the way of the new vaporetti. But the temporary, sometimes, is made to last... Paul Morand liked to sit early at the terrace of the small café located on the left at the foot of the bridge, coming from San Marco. For photographers, the Accademia bridge offers a wonderful view of the church of the Salute.
