CA' VENDRAMIN CALERGI
A remarkable Renaissance palace, a former home of Richard Wagner.
This Renaissance palace was built by Andrea Loredan in 1481 and finished by Mauro Codussi in 1509. You can appreciate the majestic façade overlooking the Grand Canal. It is known that on the first floor the composer Richard Wagner spent his last days in 1883. A year earlier, he had given life to his opera Parsifal here. Today we visit three of the rooms he occupied. It is an opportunity to discover his world, his scores and other archives. Since 1959, the palace has been known above all as the home of the municipal casino.
