This museum dedicated to Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons of the Greek, Cretan and Venetian schools (13th-17th centuries) is located in the Scuola di San Nicolò dei Greci. Among the most expressive works are Noah's Ark and San Giovanni Climaco. Church furniture and liturgical objects are also on display. As for the Scuola building, it was built by Longhena. It was for a long time a hospital for the poor, from 1678 until the beginning of the twentieth century, before becoming home to the Greek Orthodox community of Venice.
