CAMPO SANTO STEFANO
A vast square, lined with beautiful palaces, one of the most animated in Venice.
Campo Santo Stefano is one of Venice's largest and liveliest, surrounded by magnificent palaces and dominated by the eponymous church. Until the 19th century, bullfights were held here. On the left stands the imposing entrance to Palazzo Morosini (17th century), while on the right, adjacent to the church of San Vidal, stands Palazzo Loredan. Opposite the latter, on Campiello Pisani, is the Venice Conservatory of Music, where the baton used by Richard Wagner in his last performance is carefully preserved.
