RIVA DEGLI SCHIAVONI
Quay whose name comes from the sailors of the Schiavonia where to admire palaces, churches, the Lido, the domes of the Salute.
This famous quay, which runs alongside the Bridge of Sighs and Piazzetta San Marco, takes its name from the sailors from Schiavonia (Dalmatia), whose slave-laden ships anchored here in the Middle Ages. Today, the Riva degli Schiavoni is a must-see promenade, offering magnificent views of the waterfront. As you stroll along, you can follow in the footsteps of George Sand and Alfred de Musset while admiring the surrounding palaces and churches, including the domes of the Salute in Dorsoduro and the bell tower of San Giorgio on Giudecca, just opposite.
