CATTEDRALE DI ASOLO
Cathedral showing interesting baptismal fonts and two beautiful altarpieces.
The Cathedral of Asolo dedicated to the Madonna dates back to the early Middle Ages (the first mention dates back to 961), but its present aspect is the result of many successive alterations (the façade dates back to the end of the XIX century, literally juxtaposed to the pre-existing one). Inside you can admire two beautiful altarpieces representing the Assumption of the Virgin: the one of Lorenzo Lotto and the one of Jacopo da Ponte, both dating back to the middle of the XVI century. Interesting baptismal fonts bearing the coat of arms of Caterina Cornaro, she commissioned them in 1491.
