ROCCA DI ASOLO
Building north of Asolo erected by the bishop of Treviso on the foundations of a military building, surrounded by high walls.
The Rocca, the second most important landmark in Asolo (along with the Castello Cornaro), stands majestically to the north of the city, at the top of Monte Ricco. Surrounded by powerful 15-meter high walls, of irregular polygonal shape, the construction was erected by the bishop of Treviso in the 12th and 13th centuries on the foundations of an earlier military building. You will have to climb some 280 steps (fortunately on a gentle slope) to reach it. From up there, the view of the countryside is priceless, stretching from the Po plain to the surrounding Alpine arc.
