Alpine Museum, with a gallery housing a beautiful collection of paintings of the Dolomites, at the top of Monte Rite.
With its head in the clouds, this Messmer museum is built on the top of Monte Rite at an altitude of 2,181 m. The military fort was built for the Italian defence line against the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Josef. The 360° panorama is incredible. Many peaks make up the skyline: Monte Civetta, Marmolada, Monte Pelmo, Tofana di Rozes... The mountaineer has dedicated this museum to the conquest of the Dolomites, to those naturalists who have shared their discoveries. A gallery houses a collection of paintings of the Dolomites, from the Romantic period to the present day.
