MARC - MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO CADORINO
Archaeological Museum in the palaces of the Magnifica Comunita, for an instructive visit to Pieve.
Located in the palaces of the Magnifica Comunità, the Archaeological Museum of Cadore houses the remains unearthed in the area. On the2nd floor, the collections date back to the pre-Roman and Roman era, with objects found in the Cadore Valley, including a bronze vase with a votive dedication in Venetian script. The other floors are divided into two sections: one section tells of the Risorgimento of Cadore (1848), the period of Italian unification. Here you can see coins, commemorative medals, rifles, sabres, bayonets, halberds, spears, swords used by the Corps Francs and other objects of the time; the other section deals with the institution of the community and keeps archives, valuable volumes and various objects related to the history of Cadore. The museum's picture gallery (also divided into two sections: ancient and modern and contemporary) is also on display. In the ancient section there are works by Andrea Brustolon (1662-1732), Cesare Vecellio (1521-1602), Marco Vecellio (1545-1611), Tiziano Vecellio called the Tizianello (1570-1650) and anonymous painters of the 19th century. The modern section is rich in works by Giovanni Barbisan, Marco D'Avanzo, Tomaso Da Rin, Boris Georgiev, Ettore Marchioni, Edgardo Rossaro, Masi Simonetti, Pio Solero, Guglielmo Talamini (34 paintings), Fiorenzo Tomea, as well as many contemporary artists... An instructive visit, not to be missed.
