CAPE ROMAN CLIFF
The Cap Romano cliff is an archaeological and geological site.
Classified as a national nature reserve in 1984, the Cap Romain cliff has a dual interest. On the one hand, it’s an archaeological site that has revealed the remains of Gallic and Gallo-Roman occupation. Secondly, it is a geological site of international renown, recounting 165 million years of our Earth’s history. Who would have thought that the English Channel was a tropical sea in the Jurassic period? Fortunately, the fossil sponges are there... Archaeological discoveries can be viewed at the tourist office, including the statue of the Mother Goddess.
