VILA CAELIS
Franco-Portuguese restaurant offering Portuguese and traditional French specialties in Saint-Contest.
It’s great to have a Portuguese-French restaurant on the corner, it changes things up and does well. So, why the dual nationality? Simply because the menu offers Portuguese specialties and traditional French cuisine. It’s up to you to decide, but admit that it would be a shame to miss out on the unique small dishes. In any case, we were tempted by the very good and tender suckling pig, grilled to perfection - the meat is of high quality and it shows! You can also enjoy traditional Bacalhau (cod), brandade, braised sardines, and even a chorizo platter. For the less adventurous, burgers, omelettes, fresh pasta, salads, and pizzas are also available. The fresh calzone is quite surprising: the ingredients in it are raw, which is rather weird but pleasant. However, it’s a shame not to use real mozzarella di bufala for this recipe - what sacrilege! For dessert, opt for pastéis de nata (a small custard tart with a hint of cinnamon) or the salame de chocolate (chocolate sausage!). It’s a guaranteed delight on the plate!
