Cuisine of chef Nuno Mendos in a Michelin star restaurant in a hotel in central London.

It all started with an idea from André Balasz, a daring hotel entrepreneur specializing in luxury hotels in the United States. He decided to locate his central London hotel in a former fire station built in 1889. This red-brick Victorian house, with its fireplaces, mullioned windows and stone turrets, provides an original setting for this superior establishment and its renowned restaurant. Even if you're not staying here, it's well worth a visit. You can have a drink and lunch while admiring the scenery.

Wanted to check out the hotel because of the fame associated with it. Sat at the hotel bar and had a few drinks. Our bartender was Jon, he was friendly, made brilliant cocktails and told us some great stories about the hotel and his life. Great atmosphere, and a fair price point. Will definitely eat here next time (there was a private party the next day so I was unable to make a reservation).

Very rude and arrogant waitress who was today in the patio. She behaves like she is a queen and the clients are her servants. I never seen the waitress in high end place or in any other place with such attitude.
I don’t know the name of the person (she is quite corpulent). I liked this place before and I was a frequent guest but I will never come again.

Chiltern has gone from bad to worse. The staff changed too many times, getting more rude at each iteration. There has been a pre-covid and after-covid stage as well. Place has become much more aggressive on pricing and you can tell in the way you get treated they're after objectives. Luxury experience is far away with a management that only relies on the legacy of the adress. No more hype vibes. No more personalisation of the experience. Just a four season staff in a pretty building.

We were here with my friend for the lunch. Visit was totally spoiled from the beginning . We have been waiting table for 20 minutes, our table was at 14:30 and we were seated at14:50. Hostess Marta was very rude, didn't offer drinks while we were waiting and her behavior was disrespectful to us. When I have asked her name to complain to the manager, she said that she wouldn’t tell (I found out the name from the waiter). I thought that professionals are working in such a high-end place, but it turned out to be ordinary rude people. I highly do not recommend visiting this restaurant !!!
