An ultra cozy address with its large fireplace, exposed bricks, trendy rooms. One of our favorite hotels!
The large fireplace in the living room on the first floor and the exposed brickwork set the tone for the whole hotel: here, it's both warm and trendy, very East London after all, as the English say. The Hoxton has succeeded in the tricky challenge of offering designer accommodation at a very low price (for London) with trendy rooms. Reservations are made in the same way as for charter flights: on the face of it, they're cheap, but it's best to get in early for the real bargains. One of our favorite hotels in our favorite neighborhood!

* Great value for money on the room, food, and drinks.

Cons:
* Bathroom door doesn't seal, so not a lot of privacy.
* Wi-Fi was a bit intermittent in the lobby.
My chief issue is with the lobby service. The hotel seems to treat the entire lobby as a restaurant. I had gone on a morning walk and came to the lobby to sit by the fireplace and read my book, and I had a coffee and croissant I'd bought elsewhere with me. I was asked by a staff member if I wanted to order food, and when I said no I was told I couldn't sit in the lobby and had to return to my room. Frankly this is a ridiculous policy. I'm already paying to stay in the hotel, I shouldn't need to pay extra just to sit in the lobby. I would understand if I were sitting at the bar or in the restaurant area, but this was in a lounge chair near reception. Or if it was a busy time with a lot of outside guests, but this was at 10am and very few other people were around. I hope the hotel reconsiders this horrible policy because it makes me reluctant to stay here again, even though otherwise I liked the hotel.
